Central Air Conditioners in Charlottesville, VA
When you think about an air conditioner unit, the image that probably springs to mind is that of a central air unit. This is, after all, still the most popular type of cooling system on the market—and for good reason. Window units and portable air conditioners do a poor job of keeping even small spaces comfortable, so if you have a home then you need a reliable central AC system.
This is something that often gets taken for granted, but you may be surprised by just how much a central air unit, also called a split air conditioner, can make a difference in your comfort. Plus, today’s models are built with efficiency in mind, helping you save energy, and subsequently, money. Contact Mack Morris Heating & Air Conditioning today to start designing a more comfortable living space. We can’t control the weather outside of your home, but we can control the weather inside of your home!
How Does a Split Air Conditioner Work?
As we mentioned above, the conventional central air unit is known as a split system. This name comes from the fact that the AC system has two basic components—one of which is stored inside and the other outside. The outside unit is called the condenser, and contains a compressor, fan, and condenser coil.
The indoor unit is comprised of the evaporator, which contains the evaporator coil and the air handler responsible for sending the cooled air into the ventilation system. When your central AC system operates, the compressor circulates refrigerant between the two sets of coils. The refrigerant in the indoor coil absorbs heat from the home’s air, while the outdoor unit exhausts that heat.
